Problems in teaching primary history?

After training for 4 years I am about to write my dissertation based on children's concepts and difficulties in history. I have thought about the obvious 'understanding of chronology' route but would prefer another focus. I am thinking about discussing ways of developing children's inference skills, or looking at teir understanding of cange and continuity. Just wondering if any of you professional teachers have any ideas of common difficulties that children display?? I would be grateful for replies, thanks.
