I would love to start up an after school history club for KS2 and wonder if anyone has done this in their school. I would be grateful for ideas and suggested resources. Thanks

I can also recommend going to your local authority. Most have archive services now, or they can at least guide you to one they use. It's a great way to get kids using archive material and sources.

Hi Alison,
I've been running a History club on and off for a couple of years. I haven't done much this year but I'm now going to start rolling out a project using the bbc History of the world in a 100 objects as a basis but I'm going to do my local area (Dartford). I'm getting the children to bring in objects from home and we are going to make up stories about where the objects have come from and what they might have seen etc. I'm then going to try and get the local museum involved and family members who are able to visit the school and maybe produce podcasts about the known history of local objects. You could then display work at the local museum? school? school website? Any way I haven't got far yet and am going to roll it over to next year. Hope that is helpful?
One other quick point is that I've always found the Romans good for making things like shields and catapults and food etc..
Would love to hear what you are up to!
