Written by Jamie Byrom and Michael Riley, this ECPD unit has been devised to support teachers in developing their teaching of diversity within history programmes of study from Key Stage 3 to A level.
"Cultural, ethnic and religious diversity" is given prominence as a "key concept" in the 2008 National Curriculum Programme of Study for history - but the term is far from being clearly defined. There is considerable scope and need for teacher research and reflection in this area. Diversity has many dimensions.
With a series of films, case studies, tasks and the opportunity to take this unit to Masters Level, we hope that this resource will give you a strong understanding of the key concept of 'diversity' and how it can be explored in the classroom.
