Key Stage 5
Key Stage 5

History ‘A' Level passes have once again gone up proving that history is a subject taught by excellent teachers and studied by enthusiastic students.

As a subject association we at the Historical Association want to congratulate those students who have received their results we know that many hours of hard work go into achieving good grades in ‘A' level examinations. History is a subject that requires diverse intellectual skills as well as factual knowledge. Those students that have achieved a pass in history are now well equipped to move into the challenges of everyday life.

"Studying history equips young people with a wide range of knowledge and skills that they will draw upon throughout their lifetime. It will never stop being of use, whatever decisions they make about their lives from now. Young people who continue to study history in the future will provide a new generations of enthusiasts and experts keeping our nation's past alive and relevant." Rebecca Sullivan CEO of the HA

We are an organisation that supports historians and teachers of history and we also want to congratulate and thank our nation's teachers who provide some of the best subject teaching across the curriculum. The strong results confirm that history remains one of the best taught secondary subjects.

The Historical Association is committed to continuing the strong performance of history in schools at all levels. And will continue to work closely with Government, the QCA and Ofsted to ensure that history teachers are listened to and represented. It campaigns on their behalf for improved CPD, curriculum time and resource provision at all educational levels.

In September this year the HA will be releasing an important report on the state of history teaching across England - contact the HA to receive the report and its findings in advance.
