This e-cpd unit is different to the other units available in that it looks at the professional role of the history subject leader rather than a specific element of history teaching. Many history teachers aspire to lead their own department and relish the opportunity to make an impact on the history education of learners beyond their own classroom. Once in post however the reality of the role goes far beyond that of leader of historical learning within a school and can at times feel overwhelming. This e-cpd unit aims to explore the many facets of leading a history department in a modern school environment.
