Bursaries Available for Teachers!

Thanks to a legacy left by Joan Lewin, the Historical Association is in the fantastic position to be able to offer a number of bursaries of up to £1000 to the teacher or small group of teachers who are able to demonstrate their ability to further the cause of history in schools or colleges. Any initiative or project that adds value, furthers the role, status and quality of history or offers insightful and unprecedented research will be considered. These should not be part of a wider project, nor part or a personal qualification, but matched funded proposals will be welcomed. Any successful applicant will be required to produce a brief report of the process and outcomes of their initiative/research/project and should expect for the materials to be used by the Historical Association.

Possible proposals could entail:

  • Research into an aspect of teaching and learning, the curriculum or organisation of history in schools that has not been undertaken before
  • The production of teacher guidance resources or CPD materials
  • The production of pupil resources

If you wish to apply for this great opportunity, please submit an expression of interest which gives your personal details, brief costings, plus a brief outline of your proposal to us at the address below by the end of April. Shortlists will be made from here and shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide a more detailed outline of their proposal by the end of May. Final decisions will be made and successful applicants notified by September. Successful applications will receive anything from part to full funding up to £1000 and the project undertaken should be completed within 6 months of the bursary approval.

Good luck!

Please send applications to:
