1. A Sheffield Walk

A Sheffield Walk including Sheffield Cathedral, led by Dr Trevor James.

Tours of Sheffield Archives and Sheffield Local Studies Library

If you would like to know more about the resources available at either the Local Studies Library or at Sheffield Archives come on one of these fascinating tours. Please note that the tours run simultaneously.

  

2. Sheffield Archives

Sheffield Archives Collects, preserves and lists written and other records relating to Sheffield and South Yorkshire, and makes them available for reference and research. This tour will look at records dating from the 12th century to the present day and includes business, family and estate, local government, local public records and records from individuals.

3. Sheffield Local Studies Library

The library has a collection of over 30,000 volumes including books, pamphlets, journals and reports on all aspects of the city's history and development and the lives of its people. In addition there are collections of newspapers, trade directories, census records, maps and other materials.

4. A Visit to Sheffield Manor Lodge

Sheffield Manor Lodge is the site of a hunting lodge built in the late 15th and mid 16th centuries as a country retreat for the Earls of Shrewsbury, the Lords of the Manor of Sheffield. At the time of its construction it was surrounded by a huge deer park. The remains of Sheffield Manor Lodge include parts of the kitchens, long gallery and the Grade II listed Turret.
