An HA Dining Group evening format is dinner followed by a speaker and then a question and answer session with discussion. The group has a hard core of members who attend all the dinners and others who attend when the speaker's topic appeals to them. The people are drawn from various backgrounds and occupations but all have a common interest in history. We have solicitors, civil servants, teachers, chemists, archivists etc.
Diners meet in the dining room before the dinner at 7.30p.m., for chat and gossip which carries on during the meal that usually takes about an hour and a quarter. The invited speaker will then talk for forty minutes or so and then there is discussion on and around the subject of the talk. The evening usually ends at 10.00p.m.
