One to One Tuition
One to One Tuition is a new Government-funded programme, offering children who face academic barriers in English and maths an individualised programme of tuition. The TDA are looking for 100,000 qualified teachers to register to become a one-to-one tutor. The benefits are numerous, from flexible working that allows you to choose where and when you give tuition and how much to commit to, to a typical pay rate of £25 per hour for 10 hours tuition plus 2 hours planning time with the pupil's teacher. Aimed at key stage 2, 3 and 4 pupils, it is not necessary for the tutor to possess an English or maths degree. At this stage the TDA are looking for teachers to register their interest in the programme - they will be contacted during or after September 2009 by their local authority to discuss their suitability in becoming a tutor.
Additionally, the marketing for One to One Tuition launches at the beginning of next week with adverts in national and educational press, as well as on-line and leaflets in suitable packs. The marketing focuses on recruitment of teachers to become tutors by re-iterating its benefits for pupil and tutor.
