Primary Subjects - A New Initiative from the CfSA
Primary Subjects CfSA New initiative.
Primary members will welcome the first publication of the newly formed Council for Subject Associations (CfSA). Primary Subjects is a unique joint project, bringing together the expertise and experience of the subject associations to support primary teachers in sixteen subject areas.
Funded by the DCSF and with strong ministerial support, issue one of Primary Subjects, with a central theme of ‘Making every child matter', has just been mailed out by CfSA free of charge to all maintained primary schools in England. (Check with your headteacher if you haven't seen it yet!)
Schools outside this sector can obtain a copy from CfSA for a small charge - for more details, visit www.subjectassociation.org.uk and click on Primary Subjects. Issue two will focus on ‘Gifted and talented' and planning for this issue, due to be mailed out in the autumn term, is well under way.
Message from the Minister
I am delighted that the newly established Council for Subject Associations has begun its work with the publication of this first issue of Primary Subjects, which I am sure will be an essential resource for teachers in primary schools across the country. The Department for Children, Schools and Families' support for the Council for Subject Associations and Primary Subjects is based on the knowledge that a single channel of communication with the wide range of subjects which primary schools must cover will help primary teachers' use of time and access to resources. We hope that this publication will represent only the beginning of a new and fruitful relationship between subject associations and primary teachers.
Jim Knight, MP, Minister of State for Schools and Learners
