Phil Nevers is a passionate historian with high ambitions for the students that he is teaching. He reads widely and is deeply committed to the principle of introducing young people to the work of historians and encouraging them to believe that they can join in their arguments. His enthusiasm means that he tends to embrace the complexity of the past. Other history trainees have found him incredibly helpful in supporting their subject knowledge development, pointing them to particular texts or engaging resources for students, but they have also sometimes been left slightly bewildered by the detail of his explanations...
