Webinar: The women's suffrage movement

Event Type: CPD

Takes Place: 2nd July 2019

Time: 4-5pm

Venue: Online

Description: In this webinar, Tara Morton will share her research for the database of 3,000 suffrage campaigners on www.suffrageresources.org.uk. She will share her journey into the archives, reaching back to the symbolic beginnings of the organised women’s suffrage movement in 1866, when almost 1,500 women signed a petition for female suffrage, and her work on government records listing suffragettes arrested between 1906 and 1914, over 40 years later. This webinar will navigate through some of the difficulties and discoveries, realities and diversities of suffrage lives featured in the database, and often ‘hidden’ from popular suffrage histories.
