Speaking Across the Divide: Growing up in the Shadow of the Holocaust

Event Type: Branch

Takes Place: 30th January 2020

Time: 7.00pm

Venue: Theatre 2, Roland Levinsky Building, University of Plymouth, Drake Circus, Plymouth PL4 8AA

Description: To commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day, we welcome Dr Noemie Lopian and Derek Niemann. Holocaust educator Noemie is the daughter of a concentration camp survivor; writer Derek is the grandson of a Nazi SS officer and manager of slave labour. They join forces to show why the Holocaust still has lessons for us all today. Though they are descendants from opposite sides of these events, a desire for mutual understanding has brought them together to share their very different experiences, and shed light on their family stories.
