Teaching British history that extends chronological knowledge beyond 1066

Event Type: CPD

Takes Place: 30th November 2021

Time: 4.00 - 5.00pm

Venue: Zoom

Description: This webinar will outline the reasons for the evacuation of British children during the Second World War and describe its different phases between 1939 and 1945, showing by reference to first-hand evidence how varied children’s experience was from those who gained in effect a new family to those traumatised by their experience. It will consider the long-term consequences for that wartime generation of children and why it was such a significant turning point in their lives and that of the country as a whole.
