Writing the history of our own times

Monday 19 March, 7.00 p.m

The Gloucestershire Branch of the Historical Association will be welcoming Professor Peter Hennessy to talk on the subject of Writing the history of our own times

As a journalist for over 20 years – with spells on The Times, The Financial Times and The Economist – Professor Hennessy unearthed the hidden wiring of the constitution and the power of the machinery of government in Britain.
Those themes remained at the heart of his research and teaching at Queen Mary when he moved from journalism to academia in 1992. Since then, it has been his aim to write the history of his own country, in his own times, for academic and public audiences alike.

The talk will take place in the Teaching Block at the University of Gloucestershire, Park Campus, Cheltenham, GL50 2RH.

Everyone is welcome to attend the talk. Admission for non-members £3.00 (students free)
