As well as developing an understanding of the many stories that reveal the history of Britain, the wider world study is a vital tool in helping children to widen their perspectives. Stories of ancient world civilisations or cultures very different from that of the UK help children not only to draw comparisons, but also to begin to gain a global perspective and to understand the world and their place within it.
