A-Level Reform Update 2012

Over the summer Ofqual launched a consultation on proposed reforms to A-Level examinations. We polled our members to find out what you thought of the proposals. Thank you to the nearly 900 of you who responded to our online poll. Your huge response, alongside consultation with A-Level history experts has helped us to formulate the Historical Association's response to the Ofqual consultation. You can view both the results of the poll and the HA response document below.

Should January Modules be removed? Yes 63% No 37%

Should re-sits be limited to one only? Yes 79% No 21%

Should the AS level examination in history be scrapped? Yes 30% No 70%

Should there be a single examination board setting A-Level history? Yes 50% No 50%

Should examination boards be regulated by an outside agency or set up their own bodies? Outside 90% Own 10%

Should Universities be involved in setting AS/A-Level examination papers? Yes 70% No 30%
