HA Annual Conference 2012

Sir David Cannadine
Sir David Cannadine

Our 2012 Annual Conference will take place in Reading on Friday 11 May and Saturday 12 May at the Penta Hotel and is sponsored by Pearson and AQA.

Our two Conference days will be packed with fantastic lectures, teaching workshops, historical visits and more, and will cater for all our education practitioners and history enthusiasts.

New to Conference this year is our Heritage pathway which will include workshop sessions from English Heritage, The British Library, The National Archives and more.

Keynote Address - Friday 11 May

Professor Sir David Cannadine, Dodge Professor of History at Princeton University will be talking about his recently published book The Right Kind of History.

Some further thoughts on The Right Kind of History

David Cannadine will take this opportunity to offer some additional reflections on the research project, funded by the Linbury Trust and hosted at the Institute of Historical Research, that resulted in The Right Kind of History, published last November.  He will outline how the project came into being, and the research that was undertaken for it; he will discuss the approach adopted in the book and the recommendations made; and he will offer comments on the further developments there have been in discussion of the teaching of history in schools since the book appeared.
