Description: There will be a guided tour of the fort, which was a Royal Commission Fort built in the 1860s in Crownhill as part of Lord Palmerston's ring of land defences for Plymouth. The talk following the tour will discuss the Jewish Legion, formed in August 1917. Most of these troops were sent for training and preparation for fighting in the Middle East to Crownhill Fort.
