Master and Mistress of the Workhouse refused to talk to any of us as she was adamant that nothing she could remember would be very interesting!

Of course disappointments like this have to be accepted and respected. We were able to persuade one or two, who preferred not to be interviewed, to write down their memories so we could add these to the archive of information we had built up.

In order to ensure the students had a sound knowledge background we began to gather information and documents about the building, reflecting in practice the advice given on pages 16-17.
