Remember Peterloo!

The BBC News at 10 on Saturday 5 July included an announcement that Manchester's campaign to have a memorial erected to the victims of the Peterloo Massacre had ‘got under way'. That afternoon, a workshop organised by the Peterloo Memorial  campaign had encouraged members of the public to express their views about the form of such a memorial. A brief shot showed several people painstakingly sketching possible designs with pencils and paper helpfully provided. If the camera had moved slightly to the left, viewers would have seen members of the Manchester Branch Committee of the Historical Association encouraging its Branch Secretary, Valerie Moreland, as she covered a large sheet with our preferred design.
