The Medlicott Medal 2026 will be awarded to Professor Anne Curry

The Historical Association is delighted to announce that the Medlicott Medal 2026 for History will be awarded to Professor Anne Curry. The Medlicott Medal is awarded for outstanding contributions to the field of history through actions that include: academic research and output; leadership in an academic or public body; public awareness raising; and dedication to the subject through the support of others in the field and additional volunteer activities.

Anne Curry has met every single one of those areas – she is renowned scholar, producing many groundbreaking books, papers and research projects. She is the former Dean of Humanities at Southampton University, Anne was the Chair of Trustees for the Agincourt 600 Charity and has been a trustee of other charities including the Royal Armouries and the Battlefields Trust. She is a former president of the HA has held posts for the Royal Historical Society and the Worshipful Company of Fletchers.

Anne has supported numerous PhD students and as an Emeritus Professor has continued to nurture young academics through her participation in current research projects. In Rouen, France, at the museum dedicated to Joan of Arc (Historial Jeanne d’Arc) there is a hologram of Professor Curry answering questions about the woman on whom she is writing her latest book (due out in 2028) in French and English!

Over the next few months, she will partake in a few real-person activities for the HA about receiving the Medlicott medal, including a full interview for the next edition of HA News.
