Historian events calendar - Autumn 2024

Published: 27th March 2024

One of the HA’s aims is to bring you accessible and enjoyable history wherever you are based and whatever amount of time you have to dedicate to it. That's why we work to put together a regular programme of events with a variety of formats and delivery. You might prefer the social element of a face-to-face lecture from a local branch in your area, the convenience of a one-off online webinar, an ongoing course with regular online workshops, or a mixed economy that fits into other demands on your schedule.

Don't forget to also look at our branches calendar for many more events taking place across the UK this season.

Please note that for all webinars we recommend listening live in order to interact with the presenter and make the most of the experience. If you have suggestions of events you'd like to see us develop, please email enquiries@history.org.uk

HA branch calendar

The HA has over 45 local branches throughout the UK who organise their own programmes of historical lectures and activities, and collectively put on a programme of around 350 history events every year featuring leading historians and researchers. Events from across our branch network are free to attend for national members of the HA, and are also open to non-members for a small fee. They are a great way to socialise and meet other people from your local community who share an interest in history.

Online HA branch talks

Many HA branch talks now take place online as well as (or sometimes instead of) in person. Whether the branch is local to you or not, all HA national members can attend any local branch talk. Enjoy these talks from the comfort of your home, office or any locality you choose – all you need is access to a device.

HA Virtual Branch: past recordings

The HA Virtual Branch is a great way to keep your history up-to-date, whether you are working or relaxing, all from the comfort of your home. The branch is available to everybody, and recordings of the talks are made available online after the event for HA members. Past recordings are available here.
