The Great Powers in the Pacific

Classic Pamphlet

By W. P. Morrell, published 9th November 2012

European Colonialism in the East

This pamphlet covers a very large period of history in a very important region with great detail and focus. Themes that are covered include the transition of power and dominance in the pacific region, the conflicts that frequently arose in the struggle for pacific dominance throughout the centuries, as well as the changing nature of colonial interest in the region. It begins in the 15th Century, which Morrell titles "The Age of Discovery", and continues to the mid-20th Century, titled "The Pacific in the Post-War World". Morrell moves easily between the centuries and provides a detailed and concise historical account for the entire period.  This pamphlet would be both interesting and useful to anyone with an interest in the early years of European Colonialism, the development of colonial hegemony, or the role of the Pacific region in the two world wars.
