This filmed talk was pre-recorded for the Nuneaton Branch (September 2020)

This filmed Branch Lecture entitled "Foreign Intervention in the Cold War" features Dr Volker Prott of Aston University. In his talk, Dr Prott, looks at three international crises of the 1960s and early 1970s, the Congo Crisis, the Kashmir dispute and the Indo Pakistan conflict over East Pakistan/Bangladesh.

Dr Prott examines when, why and how external powers in the Cold War period became involved in ‘hotter’ conflicts ie involved in the affairs of other states. This talk is of great value and will help those wishing to understand the wider international tensions of the time and is also of current interest with disputes in places such as Belarus and Hong Kong.
