HA Webinar: Teaching an inclusive primary history curriculum in an urban Muslim majority setting
Teaching inclusive primary history
Event Type: CPD
Takes Place: 25th June 2026
Time: 4pm - 5pm
Venue: Zoom
Description: This practical webinar will showcase how the primary history curriculum at Endeavour Primary Academy has been carefully shaped to mirror its locality’s Muslim majority (and diverse) setting in a deprived area of a busy town, for example through the inclusion of migration as a curricular theme and by opting to study Islamic Civilisations at Key Stage 2. It will also show how Endeavour’s curriculum offers pupils a window on diverse histories beyond the school, for example by focusing on Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month, and will demonstrate how it adapts materials and approaches so that all pupils can access the historical knowledge taught. Endeavour Primary Academy renewed its Quality Mark award last year. There will be an opportunity to pose questions to Ryan Johnson, the school’s history subject leader.
