Description: In this workshop, we’ll focus on reframing the significance of Magna Carta in your teaching. Pushing beyond the perspectives of King John and the Barons, we’ll share freshly-researched stories and source materials that highlight the roles of other parts of medieval society — like Londoners and Jewish communities — in informing Magna Carta: its causes, effects and aftermath. We’ll cover how teaching Magna Carta from multiple angles can benefit students’ understanding of the topic, and encourage students to deepen their exam-style answers: significant for who?
