Description: It’s 1933, and Snow Booth Farm on the sleepy hilltop above Hebden Bridge is about to bear witness to the final chapters of a cruel and brutal marriage... Join local researcher Matilda Wilding as she explores the case of Elizabeth Agnes Rhodes who was found guilty of the murder of her husband, Samuel Redmain Rhodes. Matilda will be discussing her research into this intriguing case, and what it reveals about contemporary attitudes towards gender, justice and social class. Please be aware that due to the nature of the topic being discussed, this talk will include some discussion of violence.
