Description: Join Lester Hillman at Maida Vale Library as we take a deep dive into Scottish novelist, John Buchan. John Buchan's famous spy story, The Thirty-Nine Steps, was published more than a century ago. It has inspired films, TV interpretations, West End theatre runs, articles, other books and festivals. The story begins in Westminster...The book and author have surprising links from Lawrence of Arabia, Alfred Hitchcock and Cary Grant to the Rolling Stones. Over the last two decades Lester Hillman has written and lectured on the subject, organising centennial commemorations and events in England and Scotland together with guided walks and assisting museum collections.
