Lessons for Sustainablility: From the Experiences of Early Primary Student Teachers

Student teachers, local museums, libraries and art galleries. This article is based on the experiences of student teachers on a BA (Hons) Early Primary Education Programme, during their placements in local Museums, Libraries and Art Galleries.

We asked students teachers to produce a resource to be used at their placement. Museum, Library and Art Gallery partners asked them to focus on resources that teachers, individual children or small groups could use independently.

This article shares the exciting and imaginative "self-led" resources produced for four North East venues: Durham Cathedral, The Discovery Museum, The Bowes Museum and Shipley Art Gallery. Below are some innovative and valuable ideas for both primary teachers and museum partners to enhance the learning experience of pupils when visiting their museums, cathedral or art gallery.
