Useful Resources for History Teaching

Useful Resources

By Authors: James Woodcock, Matt Bradshaw. Updated by Dr Duncan Marks., published 23rd November 2014

The following are lists of those resources which we have found genuinely useful during our NQT year, or which we feel could be used to good effect, whether as sources, interpretations or stimulus materials. The lists are not exhaustive, and are inevitably skewed towards those topics which we have taught. For the most prodigious authors we have simply given one or two suggested titles; other titles might be more appropriate for your specific needs.

This resource list is one that will always grow. New resources, such as novels, film and TV programmes with historical-orientation are continually being created. The list can also be improved with teachers' input. If there are resources currently missing from the list, please email these to the Historical Association, at websitemanager@history.org.uk.
