GCSE Units of Study and the HA

At the HA, we know it’s hard enough trying to grapple with new GCSE units of study, assessment and content without also having to research where you can find interesting or supportive resources, either for your own, or your students subject knowledge. Our secondary committee have pooled resources and helped to put together recommendations of books, articles and resources they have found useful. This handy tool (attached below) provides you with a working list of useful starting points – and if you find a book, article or resource that you think should be shared, let us know!

Many other useful articles and resources can be searched for by period (Ancient, Early Medieval, 1066-1509, 1509-1745, 1745-1901, 1901-present) and region (Britain & Ireland, Europe, World).

Our journal Teaching History provides a wealth of articles, guidance and research relating to teaching key stage 4 history. Key articles have been highlighted in our Key Stage 4 section...

Awarding body websites also contain a number of supportive resources including schemes of work. You can locate resources held on their websites.

Students of Corporate Member schools also get full access to our student resources in the student zone and our podcast section.
