Chris Wood on Walter Tull

Chris Wood from Dover Grammar School was the winner of our Canterbury Heat and he spoke about his local hero: Walter Tull.

Walter Daniel John Tull (28 April 1888 - 25 March 1918) was an English footballer who played as an inside forward for Tottenham Hotspurs and Northampton. He became the second person of Afro-Caribbean/mixed heritage to play in the first division of the Football League, the first Afro-Caribbean/mixed heritage out field player in the first division of English football and the first to be commissioned as an infantry officer in the British Army.
