Historical interpretations on Napoleon

Age of Revolutions Teacher Fellowship outcomes and resources

This resource is aimed at Key Stage 5 and focuses on Napoleon and historical interpretations. It includes recommended activities to carry out with students, guidance on the interpretations of three historians of Napoleon for students to analyse, and notes to develop teacher subject knowledge. The specific aim of the resource is to examine the complex process of analysising historical interpretations, showing the nuance between different forms of interpretations and the need for not just educators but also students to search and use peer reviews.

While the resource focuses on the historiography around Napoleon, teachers are encouraged to adapt the resource to focus on interpretations of any topic of their choice.

This resource was written by Ignacio Paz, Teacher Fellow of the Historical Association, at the time a teacher of history at Chelmer Valley High School and now teaching at Colchester Grammar School for Girls.
