Beth argues that the greatest failure of the Age of Revolutions is that the standard idea of revolution fails. She highlights that when people unite behind a common cause, willingness to fight together can be mistaken for the unity of purpose, something which becomes evident when the cause of repression is removed and makes the principle of revolution a failure in itself.
