In her presentation, Polly asserts that the greatest are long term failures, which is why the Haitian Revolution was the greatest failure of the Age of Revolutions. When Haiti overthrew its colonial oppressors there was no state infrastructure in place and its progress was stunted by France’s own self-interest, she argues, so much so that even now the people of Haiti have liberty, but almost nothing else.
