Matthew claims that true failure can only come from individuals, and goes on to argue that Napoleon’s quick and decisive fall from grace is the greatest failure seen by the Age of Revolution. Despite the failures of George III, Louis XVI and Lord Wellington, there was no failure as great as that of Napoleon, who in 10 years went from being the Emperor of the mightiest nation on earth, to being a prisoner thousands of miles away.
