Using Twitter in the History Classroom

Research Report

By Dave Martin, published 23rd May 2014

This attached report is by Dave Martin on an H. A. action research project where three schools in Dorset experimented with using Twitter in their teaching of history. They used Twitter to explore multiple viewpoints from the battlefield at Hastings, to ask an author about the process of writing historical fiction, and to debate who was the most important figure in Ancient Medicine.

The report details some of the difficulties they encountered, how some of these were overcome and the history learning gains that resulted. This will prove useful to any other history department considering the use of Twitter, or any other micro blogging tool, in their work.
