As the year draws to a close, the days here in the UK feel short and the skies heavy with winter. Yet, across the world, celebrations of light remind us that even in the darkest months, warmth and hope shine through. Diwali’s vibrant bursts have given way to twinkling Christmas lights, and soon Hanukkah candles will glow, alongside many other traditions that bring brightness to this season.

It is in these moments of light that we find connection and comfort. So, whether you’ve enjoyed a joyful Diwali, are looking forward to a cool Yule, dreaming of a hopeful Hanukkah, or anticipating a cosy Christmas, we wish you peace and happiness. And if you don’t mark any of these festivals, we hope you find time to relax, recharge, and perhaps enjoy a history podcast or two.

As 2025 comes to an end, we at the Historical Association want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our members, supporters, volunteers, and the wider history community. Your passion and commitment make everything we do possible.

Christmas Closure

Our offices will close at 5:30 pm on Thursday 18 December and reopen at 9:30 am on Monday 5 January.

Thank you for being part of our journey this year. We look forward to working with you in 2026. Until then, season’s greetings from all of us at the HA!
