She never carries any money but she does carry a handbag. The way that clothes and fashion choices made by HM The Queen are part of her modern armour and reflect her choices as a monarch as discussed in this article.

As debates about the relevance of the institution of monarchy within Britain continue, fuelled in large part by journalists’ revelations about scandals within the House of Windsor and the catalysing effects of social media, the dress of Britain’s longest reigning monarch is scrutinised for intent, much like the allegorical portraits of her predecessor and namesake Elizabeth I, which depict the Tudor queen wearing an array of deeply symbolic emblems. One such occasion occurred at the State Opening of Parliament in 2017...
