Letty And the Mystery of the Golden Thread is an exciting and addictive book. I really enjoyed the twists, although the difficult names made it a bit hard to follow at times. It was set in1774 and it was interesting because it taught me all about the past. My favourite character was Letty because she was brave when facing difficulties and good in getting out of them. However, I didn’t like Geo because sometimes he was unnecessarily mean to her. The most tremendous part was when she went to Paris by herself to try save her dad. Overall, I’d give this book a 9.5 out of 10 because it was a great and educational book.

The book is about a girl called Letty who is adopted by the keeper of a museum. Letty and her Pa are both fascinated by ancient artefacts, and when her Pa is accused of forgery, Letty embarks on a grand tour of Europe to find proof of her Pa's innocence. The setting of this book was interesting because it was a time when men were thought stronger and more capable than women and girls. My favourite character is Letty because she was determined to be completely independent, even in a foreign country. I learnt that young men used to go on grand tours of Europe to see monuments and artefacts. I would recommend this book to 9-12-year-olds, but anyone could read it because it is a really good book. I would give this book five stars.
