Netta Becker and the Timeline Crime

Review by Daniel, Year Group: 7, The Knights Templar School
By reading this novel you will be rewarded with a wonderful, historic book that makes you think about Ancient Greece and the story of the Minotaur’s Labyrinth. At the start, it is about a family who is going on holiday to modern day Crete, and a grumpy teenager called Netta who does not want to be there; she actually wants to be at a swimming competition but has to miss out. However, when she goes to sleep, she time travels! She gets sent to Ancient Crete with a princess who thinks she is a God (later she calls her a “tricky Muse”). Can she stop the evil King Minos, or will she be sent to the Labyrinth along with the Princess?! Overall, I give this book a 11/10, it is well worth the read that will leave you wanting more at the end of it.

I really enjoyed reading Netta Becker and the Timeline Crime because it was exciting and full of mystery. The story was set in a time where different historical events were important, and I found that really interesting because it made me feel like I was learning history while also reading an adventure. The idea of someone changing the timeline made me think about how small actions in the past could affect the future, which was very cool and a bit scary too. My favourite character was Netta because she was brave, clever, and didn’t give up even when things got difficult. I liked how she solved problems and tried to fix the timeline.
