Some teachers, especially those with little training in teaching History, are reluctant to use archive documentation perhaps because they do not understand what archives are and how best to approach using them with their classes.

Children need to be helped to understand that archive documentation is about real people and real places - often linked to their own locality in some way - as a hook to capture their curiosity...
