Department meetings have a range of purposes, and all teachers will be aware of some of the more tedious tasks that have to be completed at such meetings. The most exciting meetings for us are those where we can sit down as a history department and design a new enquiry. Over the last year we have been re-writing our Key Stage 3 schemes of work and, although we have kept a number of enquiries previously taught in the department, we took the opportunity to introduce several new enquiries on periods we had not previously taught. In doing this, we reflected carefully on the process by which we put an enquiry together, and this is an account of how we achieved it...
