Summerland

Lyra's review
I enjoyed reading this book because it has many interesting facts about the Second World War.  The character I found most interesting was Brigitta/ David because of the life he lived, hiding from the Nazis and pretending to be a girl.  My least favourite character was Mrs Baggs as she meddled in other people’s business and was jealous and racist. What I learnt from the book about the past was how awful the war was for the Jews and what they had to do to survive.  What stands out for me is that Joe loved Briggitta/ David when he was a ‘girl’ and when he was a boy. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in finding out more about the War.  This book is a bit slow to start but it gets better as it goes on and the end is worth it all!
