In ithis session, we’ll tackle the tricky significance of representation in the American Revolution — what did revolution mean for enslaved African Americans, and how can their histories inform our teaching of a more inclusive, compelling, and representative story of independence?  

Focusing on world-building and narrative, we’ll explore how teaching through individuals’ perspectives can help students understand the context and complexities of this transatlantic conflict: significant for who?
