ITT placement at Leeds City Museum

I am a third year student currently studying on a 4 year degree course at Leeds Trinity University College training to be a primary school teacher. Last year, as part of our History module, we visited the Leeds City Museum and met Esther Amis-Hughes who was then its Learning and Access Officer and is now the Precious Cargo Project Officer. She spoke with passion about our responsibility to  engage children as learners about the past and introduce them to the amazing riches of museums. She urged us to take full advantage of these wonderful resources to bring children's learning to life and reminded us of the advantages of stepping outside the usual routines and relationships that govern classroom life.
