The Victorians website

Take a look at a brand new history web resource for primary school children from The National Archives and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Get your pupils to work and think like historians using primary sources. There are seven themed ‘units' of study: Start Here, Queen Victoria, Childhood, Women, The Great Exhibition, British Empire and Local History, each comprising of an online activity for independent study.  All topics use a range of sources from The National Archives and the Victoria & Albert Museum, including official documents such as census returns, letters, newspaper articles, illustrations, paintings, photographs and objects.  Pupils will have the opportunity to learn about the Victorian past from these sources with the help of two online video presenters for a ‘complete' online learning experience. Whiteboard resources are also available in Teachers' Resources Section with accompanying notes. These cover the same topics as the units but allow teachers to use an interactive whiteboard with a whole class or group situation.
