Article

By Alaric Dickinson, published 11th November 1998

Alaric Dickinson gives an overview of recent developments in the teaching of history using ICT and relates these to different contexts. He examines the appeal of the History Using IT materials and places these in the context of earlier developments. He also considers the role of ICT in the context of pupils' learning of history, emphasising the need for continuing research into pupils' ideas and concepts and into teaching techniques which can move pupils forward. Finally, he outlines possible future directions, suggesting that the time is ripe for new types of collaboration between expertise in the subject community and agencies with an interest in ICT-based teaching and learning.
