Dr David Clampin discusses how he and his colleagues have worked to establish a local history teachers’ network in the North West with the aims of introducing them to the LJMU History department, making them aware of the specific research expertise in the department  and current thinking within these distinct areas of scholarship, particularly targeted at GCSE and A-Level history pupils. David discusses both the benefits and the challenges in setting up and maintaining a local history teachers and highlights the importance of using personal contacts, listening to the needs and interests of teachers, being flexible on what is offered to schools and responsive to current curriculum developments for example Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ+ history.
